Japan Gets a Taste of Adventure with Toyota's All-New Crown Crossover Landscape Trim

In 2022, Toyota bid farewell to its long-standing Avalon sedan, making room for the new Crown, a vehicle that blurs the lines between sedan and SUV. Now, Toyota is taking a definitive step towards the SUV side with a special edition tailored for the Japanese market. Meet the Crown Crossover Landscape – an adventurous twist on the traditional sedan.

The Landscape edition takes the Crown to new heights, quite literally, with a raised suspension giving it an extra inch of ground clearance. Its rugged appearance is accentuated by 18-inch wheels wrapped in chunky 245/60 all-terrain tires, complemented by matte-finished wheel arches adorned with exposed rivets. Red mud flaps add a splash of color behind each wheel, hinting at the vehicle’s off-road prowess.

Equipped with a tow hitch capable of hauling up to 1653 pounds, the Landscape is ready for outdoor adventures. Painted in Urban Khaki, a stylish light green shade, with gloss black accents on the hood, trunk, and door trim, it exudes an urban explorer vibe. Rear fog lights flank the license plate, enhancing visibility in adverse conditions.

For enthusiasts seeking the ultimate outdoor aesthetic, Toyota offers an optional roof rack to carry extra gear. Inside, the cabin remains largely unchanged, save for a black trim piece on the dashboard featuring “Landscape” branding with mountain motifs replacing the letter ‘A’.

Under the hood, the Landscape boasts Toyota’s Hybrid Max powertrain, pairing a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor on the rear axle, delivering a robust 340 horsepower. Priced at just over $45,000 in Japan, the Crown Crossover Landscape is a bold statement for adventure seekers. Unfortunately, this rugged upgrade is unlikely to make its way to the U.S. market.
