The Audi RS7 Sportback 2021 is a wide-bodied, fast-pounding four-door sports car that features a usable rear seat and a handy hatchback. The new RS7 represents the strongest version of the weaker Audi A7. Rs models wear bodywork that looks more aggressive and has exclusively high-performance equipment that helps it compete with heavy rivals such as mercedes-amg GT63s and Porsche Panamera Turbos.
What’s New for 2021?
After a brief pause, the Audi RS7 returns and everything is new for 2021. Now incorporating sportback into its name, the second-generation RS7 receives a more distinctive style inside and out along with greater technology and increased power.
Engine, Transmission and Performance
Its power comes from a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine paired with a 48-volt hybrid system, an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The RS7 produces 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, which Audi says will catapult four girthy doors from zero to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds. In addition, it can reach a top speed of nearly 190 mph if equipped with the most dynamic package. The RS7 has a standard air suspension with adaptive settings for varying ride quality. Standard 21-inch wheels can be swapped for 22-inch wheels, but larger wheels are likely to reduce road comfort. Other standout options include rear-wheel steering and ceramic brakes to improve agility and increase braking power.
Interior, Comfort and Cargo
While the RS model shares interior design and passenger space with the regular A7, it also has some exclusive details and interesting options. Of course, the robust quality of buildings and high-end materials will soon be recognisable. Even so, the RS7 cabin is decorated with a special trim logo and other unique accents. The standard front sport seat has good leather upholstery but can be recoated with enhanced leather and ventilated cushions. The rear seat can fit two or three people, depending on the configuration of the selected seat, and the cargo area offers 19 cubic feet of space with a used rear seat and 49 cubic feet with a folded rear seat.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Each RS7 is equipped with a cool infotainment system that operates through two touchscreens that seamlessly blend into the top dashboard and flowing center console. While Audi has not released a full list of standard and optional features, we are confident the RS will have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and mobile hotspots as found on other 2021 models.
Real World Fuel Economy and MPG
Neither Audi nor the EPA has released fuel economy estimates for the 2021 RS7 Sportback. However, the sport sedan’s standard hybrid system and powertrain improvements are claimed to have made it more fuel efficient than its predecessor.
Driver Safety and Assistance Features
The RS7 Sportback 2020 has not been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Road Safety (IIHS). However, Audi does offer a number of driver assistance technologies. Key security features include:
